Are you familiar with The Language Lens podcast? If not, it’s a new educational series from Pennon Education and WITF that explores key issues, strategies, and stories shaping the education of English learners.
Recently, Richland Elementary School’s English Learner (EL) Teacher, Mrs. Liz Coyle, was featured on the show to share how she and her students created their own podcast as part of their English language learning journey. Research shows that podcast production can significantly enhance vocabulary, fluency, and confidence—while also fostering collaboration, identity expression, and translanguaging. Through this creative process, students also strengthened their critical thinking skills in research, evaluation, and storytelling.
Discover how Mrs. Coyle and her students have used their project-based podcast to provide learners with not only an engaging experience but also an enriching one—developing both their academic language and content knowledge.
